Class not registered error

When I try to run DTS Package in SQL 2000, it reports a error - Class not registered?

What is the solution to this problem?

You might try the DTS forum - http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.sqlserver.dts?lnk=srg

This forum is for SSIS.

Hi,
Take a look into this script. I have not tested this.

Checking for file existance in DTS

I have a DTS package that extracts information and puts it in an ASCII file
for upload to our bank. The upload is done by a scheduled task. Since I
don't always know if this task is successful, (the file ascii file will be
deleted if it is), I need to check for the existance of this file at the
beginning of the DTS package to stop it from running if the file already
exists.
This is on SQL2000
My questions are...
1) Is there a way to check for the existance of an ascii file on the server
from inside a DTS package, and then stop the package if it exists.
2) (alternately) Is there a way to set a DTS data transformation that
copies the data from a table into the ascii file so that it will append
rather than overwritting the ascii file.
Sorry if this is a duplicate, I think I lost a previous version of this
before it was posted.
Charlietake a look at the code below I have it in an internal package that I use in
a lot of packages so that I don't have duplicate code
FolderPath = (DTSGlobalVariables("gvFolderPath").value)
FilePath = DTSGlobalVariables("gvFilePath").value
Dim FSO
Function Main()
Set FSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
MoveFile(FSO)
Main = DTSTaskExecResult_Success
End Function
Function MoveFile(FSO)
MoveFrom = FolderPath & FilePath
If FSO.FileExists(MoveFrom) Then
DTSGlobalVariables("gvPackageError").value =0
else
DTSGlobalVariables("gvPackageError").value = 1
End If
End Function

Checking for an instance of DTS packages

Does anyone know of a way to check for an instance of a DTS package?

E.g. I have a package called 'Package1' that is currently running.
Someone else attempts to run the package and before they can i want to check if an instance of 'Package1' already exists, if it does then the package will not run.

possible or pipedream?

cheers

tomIdentifying if an instance of your package is already running via the DTS object is not an easy or straightfoward issue. But you could easily get round it by using a global variable in your package. Assign it a value as soon as the package kicks off, hold the value and either kill the variable or assign it another variable when the package has finished running. Test the global variable and thereby decide whether to continue running the package or not.

I however admit I have never actually had to do this.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dtsprog/dtspapps_64z0.asp|||Yes i had thought of a similar idea of just setting an in-use flag stored in an .ini file or something.

just wondered if there was a slick way to do it that all.

Thanks for the advice, mucho appreciated.

Checking for @@Error in DTS package (was "Error Trouble")

Hi Guys,

SQL Server 2000

I've run out of ideas on what to do with a DTS process that has suddenly started giving an error when one company is processed on it.

Here's the deal:

DTS package launches a complex set of stored procedures (built entirely without error handling) as a step in importing data from various customers. I have isolated the error to one segment where I have to cursor through records that have been identified as having changes. Unfortunately, this cursor is updating about 15 system tables and uses modular stored procedures, about 12 of them, to do the job.

Error: The classic Subquery returned more than one value.

Oddity: If I run the code in Query Analyzer I never get an error, the code finishes without complaints. If I run the exact same code via the DTS package I always get the error. Note that the cursor appears to process every row assigned to it and then the sproc throws the error.

What I've Tried:
1) The obvious, reviewing the code for any unprotected subqueries. Haven't found it.
2) Checking for @.@.Error = 1 at key points in the code to try to isolate where this is happening. Can't catch it.

Note that this same process is used for several other company's data import process and they do not error even when running the DTS package. Therefore I'm assuming it is a data issue with the one company that errors that is causing the problem.

Any suggestions on what to try next would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!You are assuming @.@.Error is going to be 1

IF @.@.ERROR > 0 then|||Actually I was checking for

IF @.@.Error = 0 Not @.@.Error = 1

Then having it write markers to another table. Seems that every time I checked @.@.Error = 0.

Checking conditional in SSIS

I am converting a DTS package to SSIS.

DTS has the following steps:

1. SQL task that returns a variable ( a count ).

2. ActiveX script:

Function Main()

If DTSGlobalVariables("gsPrevProcessCount").Value > 0 Then
MsgBox "The data for one or more of your members has already been processed. Please review your data files and remove the processed files from the data directory."
Main = DTSTaskExecResult_Failure
Else
Main = DTSTaskExecResult_Success
End If

End Function

In SSIS, I have an Execute SQL Task that returns a variable PrevProcessedCount. Now, I am stuck. How do I display a message to the user (or maybe just put it in the audit log) and how to I check the variable and stop processing my package?

Linda

See if this helps any:

CHECKALLOC error

Dear all,
When I launch a pump from a DTS appears the following errror:
Backup operations, CHECKALLOC, massive copy, SELECT INTO and the
manipulation operations of files in a current database must be done serial.
Launch again the statement after ended the current operation.
I haven't idea what happend, morevoer I've seen that in that sql server no
backups running.
Does anyone ever experienced this situation? Any thought will be welcomed.

You don't say what other tasks are in the package, but at a guess you need
to do execute each task serially, try putting them all on the main thread
(right click the transformation and change the workflow properties).
