Class not registered

Hi,

when i am trying to open a table from Microsoft Visua Studio 2005
I got the following error

Class Not Registered.Loking for object with classID:......

how resolve this?

Hi,

What is the class ID that it complains about. This seems more like a Visual Studio setup/installation issue than a SQL Server Data Access issue.

After I installed SQL Server with no problems.

I am using SQL Server 2k5 Dev Management Studio. I connected to SQL 2000; created a table with TSQL (using Query Editor); and then when I try to open it using Management Studio's "Modify" context menu option I am getting the same exception.

The table is opening fine in SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager, and I am able to update its definition using SQL2k EM's table designer.

Found a FIX

I found another post that suggested this:

Remove Workstation componenents, then do a repair on Net Framework 2.0 then Re-Install workstation components. This worked for the other poster, I just tiried the same and it also worked for me.

I suggest following that exactly, I had had previously just done a repair on Net Framework and that did not help, I also had just re-installed workstation components and that hadnt worked, only the combination above worked for me.

checksum_agg and row size error. Require explanation.

Hi,

I can see that by using the object ID rather that the object name, the
following SQL query works. Has anybody got any idea what is causing the
error?

This forces SQL Server to use a plan that works for the maximum

checking the SELECT statement for an SqlDataAdapter

I'm trying to pass a querystring to an SqlDataAdapter object. To check if the query is a valid SELECT statement, I simply use a try-catch. But dispite the try-catch it still accepts valid INSERT statements. However, in the parameterlist of the SqlDataAdapter the required parameter is a Transact SQL SELECT statement or a stored procedure... Am I doing something wrong?

 Here is my code:

How do you know the parameterlist makes the SqlDataAdapter accpets only SELECT statement or SP? Actually when you create a SqlDataAdapter with a SqlCommand, the SqlCommand is used as SqlDataAdapter.SelectCommand, but this does not mean the SqlCommand must be a SELECT statement. If you want to validate SqlDataAdapter.SelectCommand, you need to validate the SqlCommand.CommandText to make sure it doesn't cotain any words like INSERT (but if there is a column named "INSERT" returned by a SELECT query, the statement will also considered invalid). So, such validation seems to make no sense.

I have a problem then. I want to pass in this object to use in an ExecuteSQL task, as my input parameter. However, because of some conditional execution, there may not be anything to update. This means that the object has nothing in it, and at the moment. This is causing my task to fail.

Any ideas?

You could read the object variable inside a script task, and check for it equalling Nothing.

Then set a boolean variable indicating whether it is populated or not and put an expression on the precedence constraint that checks the boolean variable to see whether it should execute or not.

I was wondering how can I get usage statistics for the views - which
ones are in use, which aren't, when were they in use, etc.

sp_depends may tell you some information about where the view is used but it
does not always give you everything. Alternatively if you are using stored
procedures for access and have scripted them into text files you can
manually search for your views in them.
You may be able to get some idea of usage from analysing output from SQL
profiler, if you use stored procedures it will not be direct access i.e. you
will know if procedure X is called then it uses your view.

I can't run a profiler on this (production) server and there are hardly
any stored procedures used. Most of the views are used within DTS
packages

must be an app that actually profiles the access of objects instead of
the references in stored procedures. Please post if there is, otherwise
I think I'll write one, I mean we've got the execution plans from
profiler traces, so parsing them and building up some stats can't be
"that" big a deal.|||Hi Ronald
If you can't run profiler then it is unlikely that you will be allowed to
run any other tool. Sampling using say DBCC INPUTBUFFER will give you less
comprehensive information and therefore be less reliable. Either method may
miss a reference to a view used in a very rarely run report.
For the changes you intend to make you will need a test system and full
regression test to make sure that removing anything does not break your
system.

CHECKDB and Object ID 0

Can someone please tell me what "Object ID 0" is? It does not exist in
sysobjects and I can find a reference in BOL or in the groups/forums...
I am trying to anlyze the first line returned from DBCC CHECKDB
Server: Msg 8909, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Table error: Object ID 0, index ID 0, page ID (1:23953). The PageId in
the page header = (0:120).

Check Temp table size?

I have a tempdb which fills up the disk frequently. I want to determine the
size of each object in the tempdb.
I used EXEC sp_spaceused '#temptablename'. I got the "#temptablename" does
not exist error. I got the temp table names from INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES.
Since the temp tables only valid for their own session, how can I check its
size of temp tables through Query Analyzer?
Another question is how to analyze the log file space usage? The log file
for my TempDB grows dramatically fast too. I need understand the reason.

It did not solve my problem. Maybe my question was not clear. The
#temptablename was created in the stored procedure. Since it is a local temp
table, I can not access it from the Query Analyzer. What is the workaround?
I know if it is a global temp table I can access it.

procedure scope you are interested in. What do you expect will happen when
the stored procedure is being executed by 12 different people
simultaneously? Since the temp table only lives for the scope of the stored
procedure, why do you care aout its size OUTSIDE of that scope?

Let's say there is a temp table "#tempTable" is created in the stored
procedure. Two people simultaneously execute the stored procedure. When I
ran the following query,

In the tablename column, I saw:

#tempTable________________________________________ __________________________

Yes, those suffixes are generated by SQL Server internally to track #temp
tables from different sessions. Again, you would have to guess which one is
which.

1. What does the unallocated space mean? Free space? Unused space? Why I can
not reclaim the such space by shrinking db?
2.The data and index add up together are only 216 + 320 = 536 KB. It is less
than 1 MB. Why my tempdb is so large (> 4GB)? Any hint?

your tempdb so large? I have no idea. Probably one or more of those
reasons. Why can't you shrink it? I have no idea. What else is going on
in the system? What command are you using to shrink the database? Does it
complete successfully, or do you get an error? If you get an error, what is
it?

2.The data and index add up together are only 216 + 320 = 536 KB. It is less
than 1 MB. Why my tempdb is so large (> 4GB)? Any hint?

your tempdb so large? I have no idea. Probably one or more of those
reasons. Why can't you shrink it? I have no idea. What else is going on
in the system? What command are you using to shrink the database? Does it
complete successfully, or do you get an error? If you get an error, what is
it?
