Class does not support aggregation

I am trying to port a database from SQL Server 2005 Express to SQL
Server 2005 Standard. I
detached my database from the SQL Sever 2005 Express instance and
attached it to the SQL Server 2005 Standard instance. Whenever I do a
select on tables in the database I have no problem. However if I
attempt to open or modify a table by selecting open or modify from the
popup menu, I get the following error --

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
----------

Class does not support aggregation (or class object is remote)
(Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040110 (CLASS_E_NOAGGREGATION))
(Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlTools.VSIntegration)

----------
BUTTONS:

OK
----------

I tried repairing the .NET 2.0 framework but to no avail.

Please help!!!

Thanks,Crazy Cat (danbredy@.hotmail.com) writes:

Sounds like a bug in Management Studio. Could you create a new table
with the same definition, and see how it that works? If the error
persists, could you post the CREATE TABLE statement?

Actually I found a post somewhere that suggested uninstalling the
workstation components, repairing the .NET 2.0 framework, and
reinstalling the workstation.
I worked perfectly. I just wanted to post back in case someone else ran
into the same problem.

Thanks for replying.

you probably had the CTP Express Version of the Mangement Tool
installed previously, and then uninstalled it after the release-version
of SQL2005 had been installed?!

At least that's what I did, and I'm getting the same error.
I'll try just reinstalling the 2005 client tools...

Choose a named instance port(firewall).

Hi all,
i am installing a named instance in a DMZ.
Now i can choose for udp 1434 for the sqlbrowser srevice but the
Firwall/secutiry boys aren't happy about that.
So now i think i will configure it with a fixed tcp/ip port.
Wat port can i choose?
Eg. 1500 or 50000?
anyone?!
What port did you use?!
Thx!Hello Hate_orphaned_users,

I'd just configure it to use TCP 1434. a different port is just security
by obscurity. Poeple who want in will be able to find the port regardless
of the fact that you changed the number. And if anyone comes knocking, SQL
will happily tell them what it actually is.
Jesse|||Yes, i now.
But if i should configure a static tcp/ip port for the named instance which
one should i choose?Or what port is recommended.?

Check TCP port

I have establlished a MSDE server.
I know how to check the TCP port at the server.
But, I also want to know if it is possible to check the
TCP port from other workstation?
Please advise.
Thanks.

in order to check connectivity, you can perhaps ping the server, or telnet
it, like
c:\..\>telnet servername port_num ;
if the screen becomes black you are connected to the SQL Server instance
(type quit to exit)
